User Studies, IA, IxD
The library district covers most of the Denver-metro area. At the time, the website was from the early 2000’s, was not responsive or maintainable. The company had recently been rebranded, so in addition to a full redesign, Information Architecture needed to be refined and updated according to what users were doing on the site.
As the UX Lead, I came up with a user-study related strategy that could help us nail down what users need and want in order to become more engaged with the website, and libraries in general.
Provided in-depth visibility into user actions and goals, refined information architecture to make offerings in more intuitive groupings, and designed easy layouts for new pages now prioritizing specific content that would be more relevant to users upon entry.
In the end however, they ended up going with a library specific CMS that negated much of the interaction design work we did in the first place. Can't win them all, I guess.
