Electronic Medical Records Charting

The Challenge

Physicians working in fast paced dialysis clinics need to have an easy way to view real-time patient vital signs, while documenting their conditions and evaluating physician orders face to face. This meant performance and ease-of-use are paramount for this enterprise EMR application. Additionally, this required rapid iterations of design and usability testing while the development team worked on core features and performance improvements.

When implementing new features, after usability testing with current users, had to be presented to a board of directors on a regular basis to keep funding available while meeting project milestone dates.

My Role

A dual role of Senior UX Designer (leading the design) and product owner, in Agile, managing a team of IOS developers. This dual role was extremely iterative as design iterations had to happen on the fly, which would result in updating user stories as well as acceptance criteria.

The Solution

After launch, performance and retention rates have improved significantly. Upcoming medical records requirements have all been satisfied as well and Falcon Physician is receiving a lot of attention in the EMR marketplace.
